Glenn Hoskins

The first instrument Glenn wanted to play was the drums. His first live experience was a Peter Green concert and the drummer he saw that evening was the late Cozy Powell.

However, at the age of 11 Glenn began playing the guitar instead, being taught by John O’Reilly of the Blues Engineers, developing a great passion for the Blues and first playing on stage at the age of 15 at Bob Brunning’s Blues club in Merton.

Having a very eclectic taste in music Glenn soon found interest in other instruments and started teaching himself to play the bass guitar at the age of 18.

Two short years later Glenn returned to his first interest in music, began learning to play the drums and has been self-taught for the last 10 years.

Glenn has played drums with a number of groups ranging from covers to blues, including a short stint with the Indie rock band Good Weather Girl.

Glenn’s musical influence developed at a young age coming directly from his Dad who played very loud records in the living room, including groups such as Yes, the Rolling Stones and Jethro Tull. Glenn also found a passion for the heavier side of progressive music with influences including Dream Theater, Sikth and Pagan’s Mind.

Glenn is excited to be a part of the new Ruby Red line up
